The Music of Duke Ellington & Count Basie
Paul Gavin, Zach Bartholomew, and Brandon Robertson are bringing their classic show Duke Ellington and Count Basie to the Carrollwood Cultural Center. They'll be taking the tremendous energy and beauty of Duke Ellington and Count Basie's big band writing and cramming it into a trio.
Ellington and Basie are among America's greatest composers and were principal in creating the modern big band jazz vocabulary. They'll be playing their interpretations of "In a Mellow Tone," "Caravan," "Shiny Stockings," "Splanky," "Lil' Darlin'" and much more.
The three of them always bring the fire when they're together. You can expect a night of the classic jazz sound with high energy and a modern twist! (
